An academic year at our New York language school consists of English studies for at least 24 consecutive weeks. This programme has many advantages: participants do not only considerably improve their English skills, but also broaden their horizons and become more independent in the process. In addition to this, they get to know America, make new friends from all over the world, and have an incredible time in the USA. An experience like this can also greatly enhance any CV.
During your academic year, you can enroll in a standard English course for 22 lessons a week or an intensive English course with 28 weekly lessons. Courses begin every Monday and classes consist of no more than 14 participants each. This programme is open to all ability levels, from beginners to advanced speakers. As soon as you’ve reached a good high school level of English, or for new participants who already have this level of proficiency, you have the choice of two different programmes depending on your individual requirements: exam preparation (ESOL or TOEFL) or ‘English for Academic Purposes’. The academic year programme with 28 lessons a week also allows you the chance to take business English classes in the afternoon and attain the BEC certificate upon completion.
Participants receive regular feedback and performance evaluations throughout the academic year in the form of weekly exercises, homework exercises, and assessments. This is done in order to monitor your progress. Students are also assigned a coordinator in New York who will provide support and be available for discussions relating to students achieving their personal targets. Participants can take a one-week break every twelve weeks which in turn extends the overall stay by a week.
This programme is suited to participants who can commit to a minimum of six months away from home and who are interested in getting to know the country and its people very well.
